Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers, those remarkable 'gel-like' solutions composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring component in our skin, offer a temporary yet transformative journey to skin restoration and revolumization, delivering a coveted cosmetic effect.

Dermal Fillers for Ageing

As the hands of time move, we naturally lose bone mass and fat pads from our faces, presenting challenges such as cheek volume loss, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and more. Dermal fillers come to the rescue by artfully mimicking lost natural elements, strategically placed to restore a youthful vibrancy to the face.

The goal in using dermal fillers for facial ageing is to delicately inject subtle amounts, employing various concentrations and densities of high-grade hyaluronic acid. This artistic approach rejuvenates and harmonizes facial features, unveiling a younger, fresher appearance.

Dermal Fillers for Cosmetic Modifications and Enhancements

Beyond the sands of time, dermal fillers can be the maestro behind subtle and natural enhancements. By making strategic 'tweaks' to facial features, they encourage better harmonization, resulting in a beautification effect rooted in natural facial symmetries. Augmentation, elongation, projection, contouring, and definition are just a few of the many outcomes achievable with dermal fillers.

Common areas that benefit from harmonization and beautification include the nose, jawline, chin, lips, cheeks, and tear troughs.

Cheek Enhancement

Cheek enhancement for facial rejuvenation involves utilising a thick density dermal filler to help restore volume loss due to a reduction in bone mass or loss of natural fat pads due to ageing.

The cheek area consists of the cheekbone and fat pads that provide the cheek volume and helps create a ‘pinning up’ effect. With age as we begin to lose this volume from the cheeks, we start to see a domino effect with creation of nose to mouth lines, corner of mouth lines and even a contribution to tired sunken looking eyes.

Treating the cheeks to help restore volume loss is often seen as treating the root cause of the first signs of an ageing face appearance. Injecting the correct density dermal filler in the correct amounts and landmarks helps replenish the cheeks with volume lost, this in return helps restore youthfulness to the overall facial aesthetics.

Cheek enhancements with dermal fillers can also be utilised for facial harmonisation or beautification by helping create more fuller and contoured cheeks.

Cheek contouring involves injecting dermal filler more laterally (to the sides) of the cheeks rather than more centrally. Artistically placing high-density filler in the correct region of the cheeks provides a more high cheekbone finish giving the desired contour look.

Cheek filler injections involve a minimum of 3 injections on each side of the face, followed by a massage to ensure the filler sits into the correct area. Cheek filler treatment usually requires little to no anaesthesia; the filler itself contains lidocaine allowing a more comfortable treatment. Full results of cheek fillers can be seen in 2 weeks, and the dermal filler in the cheeks can last up to 6 to 12 months.

Chin augmentation can involve a combination of both chin projection and elongation depending of what is cosmetically required.

The area between the chin and where the jaw line begins can also sometimes require dermal filler due to the appearance of pre-jowl sulcus. This is usually a groove like appearance that is inward and causes a less smooth transition between your jawline and chin.

Chin enhancement consultation allows determination of what is cosmetically required to the chin to see how we can provide overall facial harmonisation and rejuvenation.

Tear Trough Filler

Tear trough filler with dermal fillers is very popular treatment providing results with little to no down time. Tear trough filler helps alleviate tired dark circled eyes without the need of invasive surgery or long term treatment plans.

Tear trough rejuvenation with tear trough filler involves utilising the bespoke and premium dermal filler Teosyal Redensity 2 PureSense. Redensity 2 contains a cocktail of ingredients to help the under eye area including eight amino acids, minerals and vitamin B6. Tear trough filler ingredients are highly effective under the eye having anti-oxidant and regenerative properties allowing significant skin improvements under the eye.

Tear trough filler requires advanced examination of the under eye area prior to treatment ensuring a good cosmetic outcome can be achieved. Tear trough filler consultation allows the practitioner to determine if you would be a good candidate for the under eye filler. It is important to note under eye tear trough filler does not help alleviate pigmentation and therefore an alternative treatment would be more beneficial.

Tear trough treatment can help provide significant improvement with dark circles with eye bags or hollowing. It is important to determine in your consultation whether you have a requirement for true tear trough filler or false tear trough filler.

True Tear Trough Filler

A true tear trough consists of the under eye area that has hollowing and is sunken. On examination the practitioner will be able to see an inward sunken/hollow directly under the eye and possibly to the lateral side of the eye. This hollowness under the eye area can then be directly treated with tear trough filler with the aim to fill to raise the sunken under eye area. The tear trough dermal filler will be injected utilising a cannula under the orbicular oculi muscle. This will allow the hyaluronic acid injected to attract water causing a filling of the sunken area and alleviating the overall under eye hollowing.

The aim of under eye tear trough filler for hollowing is always to under fill, so on the treatment day it may feel as if you require more filler to fill the hollowness. However, as the under eye area is a small closed compartment it is always important to under fill the tear trough – allowing plenty of space for the water that will be attracted by the planted hyaluronic acid. Over filling the under eyes can lead to a poor cosmetic outcome causing an eye bag like side effect.

Full results for true tear trough filler can take between two to four weeks, and it is important to note a top up treatment can some times be required. Once under eye filler has been treated the results can last up to and beyond 12 months.

False tear trough filler

A false tear trough consists of no hollowing under the eye area but instead dark, tired and baggy appearing eyes. The darkness is usually due to shadowing caused by an imbalance in fat volume distribution around the under eye area. In this situation as there is no hollowing under the eye, and therefore the tear trough filler is utilised outside the tear trough – thus a false tear trough filler treatment.

The aim of false tear trough treatment is to reduce the shadowing and darkness under the eye area. The tear trough filler is utilised to raise areas around the malar fat pads to balance volume alleviating dark and tired appearing eyes. Treatment unlike true tear trough filler can be seen instantly with a reduction of darkness leading to a more overall rejuvenated and refreshed look.

Tired and dark appearing under eye areas can be treated with good cosmetic outcome especially when coupled with cheek fillers and eye anti-wrinkle treatment. Under eye tear trough filler results can appear immediately however complete results can take up to 2 weeks. Tear trough filler results can last up to and beyond 12 months.

Tear trough treatment

Tear trough treatment consists of utilising a cannula as oppose to a needle to inject the dermal filler. This allows for a safer treatment with little to no bruising present immediately after tear trough filler treatment. Tear trough treatment consists of mild to no pain, as it is mainly needle free – although a needle is utilised to make a tiny incision for the cannula entry point. The tear trough filler itself contains lidocaine, a numbing agent which helps alleviate any discomfort once treatment begins.

Dermal Filler Dissolve
(Hyalase)

Sometimes you may want to dissolve your dermal filler and start again for various reasons. Hyalase is an enzyme that helps dissolve hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers utilised for enhancements. At cosmetic strength hyalase can be utilised to dissolve dermal filler in any part of the face where you have had dermal filler injections.

Filler dissolving results can be seen instantly within hours although a full 2 weeks is recommended to see the final outcome of dissolved filler. Multiple injections are made to help spread hyalase to ensure all dermal filler is dissolved including any migration. Inflammation, swelling and pain can be expected during dermal filler dissolving. At your review you may need another course of filler dissolving if there is some dermal filler remaining. It is recommended you wait 4 weeks until you inject the areas affected again with dermal filler again to ensure a good cosmetic outcome.
